Where Did Her Love for DJing Begin?

What first inspired Yamke to become a DJ?

For Yamke, the answer has always been music. She remembers listening to house mixes on her cousins’ laptops when she was only 10 years old.

The long mixes fascinated her. She loved hearing tracks transition seamlessly into one another for an hour or longer.

At that age, she did not understand how DJs created those mixes. Everything changed when she turned 16.

She realised she could create her own “super long” tracks. That discovery encouraged her to search for a DJ academy.

Her search led her to the Soul Candi Institute of Music. She then completed her first Soul Candi DJ course while still in high school.

Who influenced Yamke's approach to music?

Two important names stand out: Black Coffee and DJ Kent. Their influence taught Yamke one of the most important lessons of her career.

That lesson is authenticity.
